    1. It’s #WorldMentalHealthDay! Please take care of your mental health. This year I had a breakdown on the hottest day on record and it was one of the worst days of my life. Talking about it with friends and family really helped, as did going for walks & petting dogs.

    I was burnt out, hugely stressed and heat exhausted. I’m in a better place now and my mood has stabilised, but I still keep propanolol in my bag in case I have an anxiety attack. You do what you have to! Therapy & antidepressants are like a stepladder so I can see over the wall.

      I’m talking about this because it’s important people know that it’s, well, normal. Be open and honest about mental health. You can totally be successful and also be medicated. It’s ok to give people a heads up that you’ll be in a bit late tomorrow because you had a panic attack.

        If you’re a team lead, foster an environment of openness around mental health matters. Normalise it. Encourage people to look after their MH the same way they do physical: if they had the flu, would you expect them to come in? (If the answer is yes, be better)
